DJ workshop for women beginners Led by DJ Ritu MBE 11:00am–5:00pm (including a lunchbreak)

For many in diasporic communities, club nights and music sessions offer solace, inspiration and a deep sense of belonging. Yet, formal DJ training remains hard to access—especially for women taking their first steps.

Led by the legendary DJ Ritu MBE, this intimate, 5-hour hands-on workshop is designed specifically for women complete beginners in a supportive, small-group environment. The session covers the essential technical and musical fundamentals of the craft, offering ample time to practice on professional equipment. Participants will be encouraged to blend diverse cultural and musical references into how they play.

Exhibition booklet launch with introduction by Billy Tang 5:15-5:30pm

Throughout Unlicensed Goods, the exhibition booklet has been continually revised and expanded through YDP’s ad hoc copy shop, created in collaboration with Studio Manuel Raeder. Inspired by informal copy shops where books and images are reproduced and circulated through low-cost means, the project invites visitors to assemble and customise their own ‘unlicensed’ copies of the booklet.

To mark the exhibition’s conclusion, a special edition will feature writings by Ackbar Abbas, Ghislaine Leung and Trà My Hickin, an afterword by Billy Tang, and offset-printed installation views and images of works presented throughout Unlicensed Goods.

‘Unlicensed Tropicália’, a concept coined by Billy Tang, captures the radiance and infectious energy of a Brazilian art movement in the late 1960s born from the imaginary of a more progressive vision of nation and home. Channelling the uniting power of diverse grooves, Norsicaa brings this concept to life through a vibrant set—digging deep into the shared threads that connect artists, labels, and cultures across the Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
